Frequently asked questions

Getting started

How do I save my parking spot?

Open FindMyPark and tap Save My Parking Spot. Add any level, section, spot number, notes or reference photos, then tap Confirm Parking. Location is requested when you confirm, not when you open the form.

With permission and an available fix, a coordinate is saved. Otherwise, the app explains that only manual details and photos were saved. Add useful details before confirming, especially in garages.

How do I find my car again?

Open the app. The home screen shows your saved spot, the live distance to it, and whether you're getting closer. Tap Find My Car to open walking directions in Apple Maps.

In a garage where GPS is unreliable, rely on the level, section and spot number you saved, plus your reference photos.

What is the minimum iOS version required?

FindMyPark requires iOS 18.5 or later on iPhone, or iPadOS 18.5 or later on iPad. iOS and iPadOS versions earlier than 18.5 are not supported.

Physical-device and iPad layout testing are still pending. There is no dedicated Apple Watch app or widget.

Does it cost anything?

The current development build is free with no in-app purchases, subscription or ads. It is not yet available on the App Store; launch pricing and any future premium features will be disclosed separately.

Accuracy and location

Why is my saved location a big circle instead of an exact pin?

iOS provides an accuracy estimate. FindMyPark displays it in text and draws a circle when available, with a minimum display radius for small estimates. This is not a guarantee of the exact parking bay.

A wide circle means your phone had a poor fix — usually indoors or underground. A tight circle means the fix was good. Either way, the app tells you rather than guessing on your behalf.

Does it work inside underground car parks?

Saved details and photos remain available without internet. Location fixes can be weak or unavailable underground, so a map pin and live distance are not guaranteed. Map loading and walking directions may need connectivity.

In a garage, save the floor, bay and a photo of a nearby sign. The app does not provide indoor floor-by-floor navigation or live vehicle tracking.

The distance to my car looks wrong.

Distance is measured between your current location and the saved coordinate, so it is only as good as those two fixes. If either was taken indoors, expect it to drift.

A clearer view of the sky can improve your current location, but does not correct a poor coordinate saved earlier. The displayed distance is straight-line distance, not walking distance.

It never asks for my location.

Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services is on, then Settings → FindMyPark → Location and choose While Using the App. Turning on Precise Location makes a large difference.

Reminders and photos

My parking reminder never fired.

Reminders are local notifications, so iOS must be allowed to show them. Open Settings → FindMyPark → Notifications and make sure Allow Notifications is on with alerts enabled.

Also check that Focus modes or Scheduled Summary aren't holding the notification back.

The saved expiry time is separate from reminder status. If the app reports alerts are unavailable, enable notifications, then edit and save the timer to try scheduling again. Timers of two minutes or less have no advance warning.

Can I change the reminder after saving?

Yes. Edit the saved spot and you can add, change or switch off the reminder, along with the level, section, spot and note.

Where are my photos stored?

In the app's own private folder on your iPhone. They are not added to your Photos library, not uploaded anywhere, and are deliberately excluded from iCloud backup.

You can request deletion of an individual photo from the in-app gallery. If local storage removal fails, the app reports the problem and keeps the photo reference so you can retry.

How many photos can I add?

The library picker allows up to 10 images per selection. You can add more later, subject to device storage and memory. Photos are converted to JPEG before saving; file size depends on the image.

Data and privacy

Do you see where I park?

The app has no FindMyPark backend, account or analytics. Parking details are local and may be included in device backups. Apple's map services handle map requests, and Find My Car passes the saved coordinate to Apple Maps.

Full details are on the privacy page.

Can I keep a history of past parking spots?

Not in this version. FindMyPark deliberately keeps one active parking spot at a time, so the home screen always answers a single question: where is my car right now?

Does my data sync to my other devices?

There is no FindMyPark cloud sync. Device backups may include parking details and may restore them to another device; reference photos are excluded from backups.

How do I delete everything?

Choose I Found My Car and confirm to clear the current session and remove its photos. If local removal fails, the app reports the problem and keeps the session available so you can retry. Deleting the app removes local app data; offloading is different. Existing backup copies are managed separately through your device's backup settings.

Before you write in

Three checks that solve most reports:

  1. Update the app and iOS. Some issues are already fixed in a newer build.
  2. Check permissions. Settings → FindMyPark → confirm Location is set to While Using the App with Precise Location on, and that Notifications are allowed if you use reminders.
  3. Try it outdoors once. If the location is accurate outside but not in a garage, weak GPS may be contributing. Use the level, section and photo fields; report unexpected behaviour without assuming that every accuracy issue is caused by the environment.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your device model, OS version and what you expected. Do not include private parking details unless necessary.

Ready to stop wandering parking garages?

FindMyPark saves parking details and reference photos locally without an account. A map pin and live distance depend on location availability.
